The gothic Victorian, single player, choose-your-own-adventure game Fallen London (originally Echo Bazaar) was published in 2009 as a browser-based game and is scheduled for iOS release in 2015. The titular bazaar has several masters and is referred to as though it is sentient being. Her Enduring Majesty the Traitor Empress sold London to the bazaar to rescue her husband Albert, Prince Consort from certain death in 1861. Following this transaction, the entire city was forced a mile underground by a swarm of bats. These events occurred 30 years prior to where Fallen London’s action picks up. Not the only underground city in the game’s universe, players may visit similarly fallen and/or underwater cities, as well as the dream world Parabola, inhabited by living inanimate objects, golems, and devils.
