Dead Rising 2, an open world survival horror beat ’em up game developed by Blue Castle Games and published by Capcom in 2010, follows motocross rider Chuck Greene as he is struggling to survive a zombie outbreak. Gameplay occurs in a shopping complex swarming with zombies. In addition to taking out zombies, players must interact with other survivors. These survivors can be a threat as deadly as zombies or the player’s allies — sharing weapons and banding together to stay alive. Upon its release, Dead Rising 2 was the fastest-selling game on Xbox Live. A third installment in the series was released in 2013.
