FrontierVille, renamed The Pioneer Trail, was a simulation, role-playing video game available on Facebook. The first game developed at Zynga East, it was a freemium game, meaning free to play with paid premium features. Similar to the wildly popular FarmVille, players created avatars which collected coins, experience points, goods, and property. Players also finished goals that revolved around settling their frontier property. They married and raised up to four children, who could then assist with the goal-oriented tasks within the game. However, distribution of labor between the avatar and family members could lead to a player being kicked off the game. FrontierVille was shut down in April 2015.
