This category includes two subcategories:

Optional relationships/romance/sex: Many games, particularly role-playing games (RPGs), allow players to have relationships and sex, or even marry, non-player characters (NPCs). The games categorized here include same-sex relationships/sex as part of the options in the game. These are largely “optional” however, and unless NPCs are also listed listed under the “character” categories are not necessarily indicative of the NPC’s sexuality.

Sex Workers and Bisexuality: In some games featuring sex workers, these characters are often portrayed as “bisexual” or at least available for hire by player-characters of any gender. In some cases these characters are are also represented as gender non-conforming. So as not to conflate sex work with sexual identity we are highlighting this as a separate category under “Relationships.”
