Rex Nebular and the Cosmic Gender Bender was MicroProse’s first graphical adventure game. The protagonist Rex (called chauvinist in some reviews, and promiscuous in others) is tasked with finding a vase for Colonel Stone. In the process, he crash lands on a planet where a war between the sexes resulted in the extermination of all men on the planet. In order to repopulate the planet, the surviving women invented the Cosmic Gender Bender, which allows the “Keepers” to alter their sex for a brief time so that they may impregnate the “Stock.” These are the two classes the population has been divided into, following the war.
