In BioShock 2, Brute Splicers are a type of enemy with a large, muscular build. They are exclusively male, and speak with a British cockney accent. Normally they are very aggressive, and make homophobic remarks such as “Fucking sodomites everywhere,” “You callin’ me a poof?”, and “You turn my stomach, poof”. When encountering a Big Sister, a female enemy in the game, they remark, “Not my bloody type, luv”. When hypnotized by the player (male), they take a different, more homoerotic tone: “I love you, ya lil’ shite. I do,” “I’d look a poof in that suit, but you carry it,” etc. Overall, the Brute Splicers seem to represent the of stereotype of the closeted gay man, exaggerating masculinity to mask their own insecurities.
