Clive Barker’s Jericho follows the story of a team of military combat specialists with arcane abilities. The squad battles demons and other supernatural creatures throughout the first-person shooter/survival horror style game, with each member being adept in different areas of magic. Lt. Abigail Black is a talented sniper gifted with telekinetic powers that enable her to control her bullets mid-flight. She is also a lesbian which occasionally serves as a topic of discussion with her fellow teammates amidst life-threatening encounters with occult monsters. Clive Barker (the game’s creator) has discussed gay protagonists in video games, and in reference to Abigail’s sexuality, stated “It’s very hard in a first-person shooter to do things with the delicate issues of gender and to explore who she is when she puts the gun down. If you put the gun down some monster’s going to eat you.”
