Clive Barker’s Jericho follows the story of a team of military combat specialists with arcane abilities. The squad battles demons and other supernatural creatures throughout the first-person shooter/survival horror style game, with each member being adept in different areas of magic. Corporal Simone Cole is a programmer and the only member of Team Jericho without supernatural abilities. Instead she utilizes a plethora of self-designed technological weapons and her genius level intellect to assist her teammates. Abigail Black and Frank Delgado (another member of Team Jericho) both reference the possibility that Simone is also a lesbian, though it is not joked about in the way that the team does with Abigail. Clive Barker (the game’s creator) has discussed gay protagonists in video games, and in reference to Abigail Black’s sexuality, stated “It’s very hard in a first-person shooter to do things with the delicate issues of gender and to explore who she is when she puts the gun down. If you put the gun down some monster’s going to eat you.”
