Tales of Symphonia, an adventure roleplaying game, has a “soulmate” plot device in which the player can choose any character in the party as a partner for Lloyd. If the player chooses Zelos to be Lloyd’s soulmate, some dialogue options will be triggered such as Zelos saying “Put on a show that will make me fall in love” to Lloyd. Despite Zelos’s prior efforts to seduce various women in the story, if chosen as Lloyd’s soulmate he seems to be wholeheartedly invested. This has led some fans to speculate that Zelos is bisexual, and others have read his various displays physical affection for Lloyd as further evidence of their relationship compatibility being “intentional.”
