Jacob Frye is one of the main characters in Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate and a Master Assassin based in London during the Victorian era. Fans  originally began to speculate about Jacob Frye’s sexuality due to an in-game storyline with Maxwell Roth. Due to thinly veiled flirting and overall homoerotic subtext, Fyre and Roth have been read as being romantically interested in one another, though Frye’s feelings towards Roth are complicated. Indeed, writers like Cora Walker have explored how this ambiguity and emotional turmoil in Jacob Frye’s character set him apart as a potentially queer AAA protagonist. An interview  with Jeffery Yohalem (the lead writer for Syndicate) confirms the implicit gay relationship between Roth and Frye, and further discusses how their kiss right before Roth’s death is meant to catalyze Frye’s understanding of his sexuality. The official Assassin’s Creed Tumblr page went on to state that Jacob Frye is canonically bisexual while responding to a fan thread about his sexuality.
