In Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, same-sex relationships are possible for female player-characters in a few places, but we have not found much additional evidence for how these options are represented in the game. One review suggests that, like many other RPGs, NPCs are programmed to flirt with the assumed-default-male player-character, and thus female NPCs flirt with female player-characters by default.

Noted same-sex (female) relationship options in Arcanum:

– There is a brothel in Tarant where a player-character of any gender can hire sex workers.

– If is she has high enough beauty stats, a female player-character can accept the advances of the female leader of the Dark Elves, thus avoiding confrontation.

– There is also a lonely widow in the game who can be seduced by a female player-character (though it is harder than seducing her as a male player-character).

– Near the end of the game, if the NPC Raven is in the player’s party, and the player-character is the right in-game race, and the player has said a certain set of lines to Raven, Raven will have sex with the player-character, regardless of gender.
